Kiosk quotes in the UAE tend to quote the build and stay quiet on the approval process, and approvals are where budgets and timelines both slip. This guide gives you real cost bands by kiosk type, what mall approvals genuinely add, and two anonymised budgets so you can sanity-check whatever number you have been given.
Cost bands by kiosk type
| Kiosk type | Typical range (AED) | What you get |
| RMU cart (retail merchandising unit) | 15,000 – 25,000 | Compact mobile cart, ideal for seasonal or trial placements |
| Standard retail kiosk | 40,000 – 75,000 | Fixed footprint, custom branding, storage and lockable display |
| F&B kiosk | 60,000 – 130,000 | Includes food-safe surfaces, refrigeration or hot-hold equipment, electrical load for kitchen gear |
| Custom flagship kiosk | 100,000 – 180,000+ | Premium finishes, larger footprint, full brand-environment build |
The mall approval reality check
Most kiosk quotes cover fabrication only. In practice, fabrication itself takes approximately 2-3 weeks once the mall has approved your final design, and the mall approval process for drawings, materials and samples adds a further 1-2 weeks on top, depending on the specific mall’s review procedures. Budget for 3-4 weeks from design sign-off to trading, not 2-3.
Permanent kiosks carry stricter requirements than most first-time kiosk owners expect. Depending on the mall, you may need fire-rated MDF and other approved construction materials, veneer, Corian or premium finish materials, certified electrical cabling and distribution panels, a load schedule submission, and technical compliance documentation before the mall will sign off installation. None of this is optional, and none of it is usually itemised in a first-pass quote. Ask for it upfront.
Two real kiosk budgets (anonymised)
| Project | Type | Mall | All-in cost |
| Beauty brand seasonal push | RMU cart, 4 sqm | Community mall | AED 19,500 |
| F&B brand permanent kiosk | F&B kiosk, 12 sqm | Major regional mall | AED 96,000 |
Where the money actually goes
- Structure and The largest single line item, typically 40-50% of the budget, covering the frame, cabinetry and finishing.
- Electrical and equipment integration. For F&B kiosks, refrigeration and cooking equipment integration can run 15-25% of the total, driven by the mall’s electrical load
- Branding and Usually 10-15% of the budget, and the easiest place to refresh a kiosk cheaply between seasons without rebuilding the structure.
- Approvals and compliance Rarely priced separately, but budget 5-8% of total cost for load schedules, certified electrical work and mall submission fees.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to open a mall kiosk from scratch?
Fabrication takes 2-3 weeks after your design is approved by the mall. Mall approval of drawings, materials and samples adds a further 1-2 weeks, so plan for 3-4 weeks total from design sign-off to trading.
Q. Do I need different materials for a permanent kiosk vs a temporary one?
Yes. Permanent kiosks generally require fire-rated MDF, certified electrical cabling and distribution panels, and a load schedule submission. Temporary or seasonal kiosks have more flexibility in material choice.
Q. Which malls do you build in?
All major UAE malls, including Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills Mall, City Centre malls and Yas Mall.
Q. Is kiosk activation available outside the UAE?
Currently, kiosk activation services are offered within the UAE only.
